Vowels
There are six vowels in the Russian language ([а], [о], [у], [э], [и], [ы]).
Five of these vowels have similar counterparts in English language and most of the Ghanaian languages ([а], [о], [у], [э], [и]). The vowel [ы] is not found in English language and any of the Ghanaian languages.
Pronunciation techniques [ы]
— Pull your tongue back as if you want to pronounce the sound [y]. The root and back of the tongue are tensed.
— At the same time, the lips are slightly stretched to the sides (and not elongated into a tube, as with [y]).
— Where you direct the tip of the tongue (up or down) does not matter. Do what you feel comfortable doing.

Hard and Soft Consonants
Most consonants in the Russian language come in pairs, soft and hard. Soft consonants are produced with the tip of the tongue touching the palate while hard consonants are produced without the tip of the tongue touching the palate. The Hard Consonants of the Russian language correspond to those in the English language and most of the Ghanaian languages.
